2026 Municipal Budget - Bridge Into Tomorrow
Swift Current City Council approved the 2026 Municipal Budget on the recommendation of Mayor Al Bridal during a special meeting of Council on Monday, April 20, 2026.
The 2026 Budget comes in at $84,791,248 with $76,376,004 making up Operating & Utility Expenses and $8,415,244 comprising Capital Expenditures.
The City of Swift Current is requesting a 4% property tax increase in 2026.
During his address to the public and Council, Mayor Al Bridal described the 2026 Municipal Budget as a carefully considered plan that focuses on fiscal responsibility, essential services, and long-term sustainability while recognizing the financial pressures facing residents.
“As Council, we were presented with decisions that were tough to make, and what resulted is a stripped-down, conservative plan that we believe was necessary to bridge the gap between the financial reality today and our long-term sustainability into tomorrow,” explained Mayor Bridal.
