Sponsorship

The City of Swift Current is pleased to offer sponsorships as an invested community partner, at the discretion of the City's Chief Administrative Officer. Provided in excerpts from the new policy established in 2025 (which you may view in full here), here are some general guidelines below for applying:

ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Sponsorship requests must not be for the sole benefit of a private individual and must demonstrate a benefit to the greater community in order be considered.
• Any sponsorship request that may be considered political or that would create or foster polarization will not be eligible for sponsorship.
• Applications will be accepted only if the sponsorship requested is to be utilized within the dates indicated on the application.
• Applicants may submit only one Sponsorship Application per year. An application may include request for sponsorship of multiple events, provided details for each project, initiative or event are identified within the application.
• If an application includes a request for sponsorship of multiple projects, initiatives or events and is approved in part, the CAO may determine which events within the application the sponsorship will be applied.

DEADLINES:

• The deadline for applications to be received by the Administrative Coordinator for sponsorship within the months of January through June, is January 15 in each year. (Special note: this is extended at this time due to the recent implementation date of policy)
• The deadline for applications to be received by the Administrative Coordinator for sponsorship within the months of July through December, is July 15 in each year.
• Applications received late or incomplete will be considered ineligible for sponsorship.(Special note: the eligibility period is extended for the first months of 2025, due to the recent implementation date of policy)

RECOGNITION:

• The City should receive appropriate recognition for sponsorship provided. The recognition must be approved by the CAO and, where applicable, contain official City branding which will be provided by the City upon request of the Applicant. Official City branding should not be altered or distorted in any way.
• In the event appropriate recognition is not provided or approved, the Applicant will become ineligible for sponsorship for the following calendar year.

EVALUATION CRITERIA: 

• Does the applicant and/or sponsorship request meet the eligibility requirements contained in the City’s Sponsorship Request Policy?
• Do the applicant’s objectives, targets and goals align with the City’s Strategic Plan?
• Will the sponsorship demonstrate a benefit to the community as a whole or a restricted group of people?
• Is the applicant eligible to apply for funding through the Saskatchewan Lotteries and City of Swift Current Community Support Grant or the Living Sky Community Development Corporation Grant?
• Has the applicant received funding within the current year from the Saskatchewan Lotteries and City of Swift Current Community Support Grant or the Living Sky Community Development Corporation Grant?
