 ABOUT Pre-Authorized Payment Plans (PAP):

The City of Swift Current offers a pre-authorized payment (PAP) plan that assists Property Tax customers with budgeting by collecting equal, monthly installments of annual Property Taxes with no additional fees.

The PAP amounts are automatically withdrawn from your bank account on the 15th day of each month, with the June payment adjusted to reflect new mill rates. No penalties are incurred by the customer if payments are made according to PAP guidelines.

To participate in PAP, you must have:

  • Your Property Tax account up-to-date (paid in full) at the time of registration, and;
  • A chequing account at a financial institution

All the required steps are explained in the online form, including what you need for banking information: a scanned copy of a void cheque, or account withdrawal authorization document from your financial institution.

If you visit our Customer Service Representatives in-person at City Hall, they can assist you to fill out the form. 
Please be sure to bring your banking information along with you - either a void cheque or account withdrawal authorization document from your financial institution. 

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND
  • If three (3) consecutive payments are missed, the City may remove you from PAP program and request payment of the total outstanding taxes, plus penalties.
  • You may cancel pre-authorized payments with written notice to the Taxation Department, by the last business day of the month prior to your next scheduled payment. Real life example: You would need to provide written notice to the Taxation Deparment on or before Friday, May 29th in writing, for your payment scheduled for the following month (June 15th in this scenario), to be cancelled. 
  • PAP participation is not transferable if you sell your home. PAP payments are non-refundable.
