Property Assessment Notices  

The Property Assessment Notice is an official notice of the assessed value of a property.  

Every Property Owner, within the municipal boundary of The City of Swift Current, receives a Property Assessment Notice on or before April 1st of every calendar year.

Preparation of assessment notices

184(1)          Except as provided in subsection (2), the assessor shall annually prepare assessment notices for all assessed property shown on the assessment roll of the city.

The Property Assessment Notice contains:

  • The legal land location and property identification i.e. civic address
  • The contact information of the Assessed Person
  • Whether the property is vacant or improved
    • (Improved: land with a structure or building on it.)
  • The Property Class
  • The Assessed Value
  • The Provincial Government Percentage of Value
  • The School Support Declaration
  • The exempt or taxable status
  • The date the notice is sent
  • The date by which an appeal may be made by
  • An Appeal Form: Form C
  • The Contact information of the Assessment Department
  • The contact information of the Board of Revision Secretary
  • An Appeal Fee Schedule


Revaluation

In Saskatchewan, 2025 is a Revaluation Year. meaning all property assessments have been updated from the previous base date of January 1, 2019, from the last Revaluation (in 2021) to the new base date of January 1, 2023 for the current Revaluation happening in 2025. The next Revaluation will be in 2029. 

Prior to 2025, Assessed values were based on the 4-year timeframe of market data before the base date of January 1, 2019 (data from 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018). Now, Assessed Values will be based on the next 4-year timeframe leading up to the updated base date of January 1, 2023 (data from 2019, 2020, 2021 & 2022).
