SWIFT CURRENT, SK – Swift Current Fire Department and RM 137 Fire Department crews were dispatched to a fire at the Swift Current City Landfill site on Friday, September 5, at 5:23 AM. Both departments worked together to bring the incident under control. Once controlled, the RM 137 Fire Department cleared the scene while the Swift Current Fire Department remained on the scene to work with the landfill staff to address hot spots. At approx. 10:00 AM hot spots had been extinguished, and the Swift Current Fire Department cleared the scene.
A total of three (3) vehicles responded to the incident, with ten (10) personnel on scene comprised of six (6) career firefighters and four (4) auxiliary members.
The incident is currently under investigation.
