Swift Current, SK – Get ready to create, share, and celebrate! The City of Swift Current is thrilled to announce the return of Culture Days, made possible through the support of SaskCulture and in collaboration with many local partners, including the Southwest Newcomer Welcome Centre, Swift Current Museum, Art Gallery of Swift Current, Chinook Regional Library, Southwest Literacy Committee, Living Sky Casino, SaskPower Windscape Kite Festival, Truth and Reconciliation Committee, Southwest Multicultural Association, Swift Current Ag & Ex, and Tourism Swift Current, with funding provided by Sask Lotteries.
This year’s celebration will run from September 19 – October 12, 2025, featuring a wide range of events designed to showcase arts, heritage, and cultural diversity in our community. The festivities begin with CultureFest on Saturday, September 20, from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Market Square in downtown Swift Current, where the streets will come alive with performances, activities, food, and displays representing cultures from around the world.
Over the course of three weeks, residents and visitors can look forward to an exciting lineup of events, including:
September 20: CultureFest
From 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Downtown Swift Current’s Market Square will be bustling with cultural activities, including a market, henna tattoos, blacksmith demo, hands-on printmaking, kite-making workshop, and orange shirt decorating. Enjoy cultural performances featuring Bollywood dancers, singers, a Nekaneet First Nation performance, Tinikling dancers, and Cowboy Poetry—all on the Innovation Stage. Admission is FREE!
September 20: Guest Speaker, Ed Tanaka – Japanese Canadian Internment Camps
Join the Swift Current Museum from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM as guest speaker, Ed Tanaka, shares personal and family experiences from Japanese Canadian Internment Camps, his family’s journey, and life between Canada and Japan. This inspiring talk ties in with the Museum's current temporary exhibit, The Suitcase Project, and will include time for questions and open conversation.
September 26: Community Event Honouring National Day for Truth and Reconciliation | Orange Shirt Day
Join us for a special day of culture and community at Downtown Swift Current’s Market Square from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM, featuring blessings by Sylvia Thorburn, a land acknowledgement by Catherine Aguilar, flag raising and greetings from local leaders, as well as drumming by Delvin Stanley of Nekaneet First Nation. The day will also include “Right the Story”, a powerful presentation by Dr. Zoey Roy, award-winning artist, activist and educator. Zoey is a proud member of the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, with roots in Black Lake Denesuline Nation and Green Lake, SK.
September 26 & 27: Indigenous Connections Tradeshow
From 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, the Living Sky Casino Event Center will host the Indigenous Connections Tradeshow, showcasing dance, crafts, displays, and more! On Saturday, September 27 at 3:00 PM, don’t miss a special hoop dance performance by Terrance Littletent. Admission is FREE!
September 27:Ranchman's & Junior Stockman's
Visit Kinetic Park from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM for the 18th Annual Ranchman's Ridin' & Recitin', hosted by the Swift Current Ag & Ex. The event will feature the Junior Stockman's Livestock Show, Cattle Pen Show, and Heavy Horse Competition!

Together, we’re giving residents and visitors the chance to explore how arts, culture, and creativity enrich our lives.
