The City of Swift Current wishes to inform residents and motorists about upcoming construction in two phases at the intersection of Central Avenue North and Herbert Street, with work scheduled to begin on Monday, July 7 and continue until Friday, July 25, weather permitting.

The objective is to enhance safety, update aging infrastructure, and continue beautifying the downtown core in line with recent intersection upgrades.

During this project, the public can expect the following impacts:

  • Detours and re-routing for both northbound and east-west traffic
  • Reduced street parking in the immediate area
  • Detours for pedestrians

“We recognize that construction season causes interruptions, especially in a busy downtown location,” says Mayor Al Bridal. “However, coordinating other departments work—such as hydrant replacement and traffic light installation—into one project helps minimize long-term disruptions for residents, businesses, and visitors.”

Emergency Services are prepared to use alternate routes if needed. Motorists are asked to follow posted detours, drive with caution in the area, and consider alternate routes when possible.

The City of Swift Current thanks residents and businesses for their patience and cooperation during this important infrastructure upgrade.
