SWIFT CURRENT, SK – Swift Current Fire Department crews were dispatched to a child trapped over the edge of the cut banks adjacent to Chinook Golf Course on the 600 Block of 6th Avenue SE at 7:23 PM on Wednesday, June 25.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a young person on a steep embankment. Members quickly set up high angle rescue equipment and deployed a member over the edge to secure the child. The youth was put in a rescue harness, attached to the haul system and was lifted back up to safety. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
The fire department reminds everyone not to cross barricades along the cut banks, as the ground beyond is unstable and poses a significant fall risk in this area.
A total of three (3) vehicles responded to the incident, with eight (8) personnel on scene comprised of three (3) career firefights and five (5) auxiliary members. Other agencies responding to this incident were the RCMP and Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
