SWIFT CURRENT, SK – The City of Swift Current is aware of the potential for mail delivery disruption if negotiations fail this month between the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) and Canada Post. If a strike is enacted and mail delivery is suspended, there are many options available for City utility and taxation customers to keep their accounts in good standing and avoid late payment penalties, as well as options for vendors or individuals expecting payment from the City of Swift Current.
Utility bills: can be paid by setting up your account on the online portal SwiftConnect, or by Pre-Authorized Utility Payments (PAP), online banking, or in person at City Hall Monday to Friday from 7:45 AM – 4:30 PM. Payments may also be dropped into the overnight deposit box at City Hall for after-hours convenience.
Property Tax Notices: will be issued to property owners in the coming weeks and depending on the potential for job action by CUPW, mail delivery of notices may be delayed. However, Property Tax can also be paid by setting up your account on SwiftConnect, or by Pre-Authorized Tax Payments, online banking, or in person at City Hall Monday to Friday from 7:45 AM – 4:30 PM. Payments can also be dropped into the overnight deposit box at City Hall for after-hours convenience.
Please note: if paying through online banking, please issue your payment 2-3 business days before the deadline to allow for your bank’s processing time and avoid late payment penalties.
EFT: If you are a vendor doing business with, or a citizen expecting a payment from, the City of Swift Current, please sign up for Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) to receive your payment without any delay caused by a postal strike. Please visit Set Up EFT and send the appropriate completed form to EFT@swiftcurrent.ca.
