CAO Resignation

Post Date:04/28/2025 8:10 PM

For Immediate Release
April 28, 2025

The City of Swift Current’s incumbent Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Mr. David Gillan who began transitioning part-time to the role on April 1, 2025, has resigned effective April 27, 2025.

Mr. Gillan intended to shift to the CAO role full-time effective May 14, 2025, but has encountered some family matters wherein he is unable to relocate from North Battleford to Swift Current at this time. The City thoroughly enjoyed having him as part of the Administration team and had been eagerly anticipating his experienced leadership contributions in transformative initiatives. However, City Council has accepted his resignation with understanding and wish him continued success in the future.

Mr. Gillan states, “This was a difficult decision, and I apologize for any inconvenience it may cause. I truly appreciated the opportunity to serve the City of Swift Current. Everyone I met was friendly and welcoming and I enjoyed meeting the team. I wish you all well in the future. ”

City of Swift Current Mayor, Al Bridal, remarked, “We were very excited for what David would contribute to our organization and regret that his relocation from North Battleford was not feasible at this time. We fully support David and appreciate his impact even within a short time in Administration.”

City Council will initiate recruitment efforts for a replacement candidate immediately and is planning contingencies that will uphold the intended retirement of the City’s current CAO, Mr. Jim Jones.
