SWIFT CURRENT, SK – The City of Swift Current will begin removing the temporary flood barriers near Lee Lam's Bridge on Friday, April 11. These barriers were installed last month as part of the City's proactive response to a forecasted high-volume spring runoff event.
Although no flooding occurred, the temporary measures were a key part of the City's emergency preparedness plan.
“Our top priority is always the safety of our community, and we weren’t willing to take any chances,” said Fire Chief Ryan Hunter. “Although the predicted flood risk didn’t materialize, this was a valuable demonstration of both our planning and preparedness—and we truly are grateful for the patience and support shown by our residents.”
The City extends sincere appreciation to the citizens, most impacted by the temporary barrier installations for their understanding and cooperation during this precautionary effort.
