  Book Awards
Governor General's Literary Awards
Awards for writing and for illustration, in English and in French. Shortlists are released annually in October, and winners are announced in mid-November.
 
The Giller Prize
Best novel or collection of short stories published in English.
 
Newbery Medal

National Book Awards
On March 16, 1950, a consortium of book publishing groups sponsored the first annual National Book Awards Ceremony and Dinner at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. Their goal was to enhance the public's awareness of exceptional books written by fellow Americans, and to increase the popularity of reading in general.
 
Orange Prize
The UK's largest annual literary award for a single novel has become one of the most prestigious and influential awards in the literary calendar. The aim of the Orange Prize for Fiction is not only to celebrate novels of excellence, originality and accessibility but also to promote women writers to as wide a range of male and female readers as possible.
 
Dublin Literary Award
The Dublin Literary Award is the largest and most international prize of its kind. It involves libraries from all corners of the globe, and is open to books written in any language.
 
Whitbread Award
