Located in the Recreation Centre at 350 6th Avenue North East, The Hub on 6th Youth Centre is a drop-in centre for youth between 10 and 17 years of age.
The Hub On 6th Youth Centre is set to open on July 5th, 2010 and runs every Monday to Friday, 1:00 - 9:00 PM with the exception of the holidays until August 13th, 2010.
The Hub On 6th is designed for youth by youth. Program staff will work with the youth to plan weekly activities such as swimming, football, kickboxing, wall climbing, and camp fires and will also plan to go on some field trips outside of Swift Current for the day.
The youth centre is a fun place to hang out with friends to watch a movie, play foosball, air hockey, pool, or WII. Youth can also feel free to listen to music, learn to cook in the kitchen, or play a sport in the gym. In addition to day to day activities such as board games and gym activities, the youth can participate in various special events such as barbeques, field trips, games nights, and the Annual Chris Wheeler Skate Competition.
In partnership with the Southwest District for Culture, Recreation, and Sport, the youth also get the opportunity to participate in unique different sports such as lacrosse and water polo. In addition, they can also be creatively inspired through different community opportunities for fine arts, such as events and/or clinics.
Our goal is to encourage participants to become responsible for their own well-being and behavior, and also to advocate their participation in future community activities by providing challenges that will develop their social skills and promote physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices. Be sure to keep checking our calendar on this site to know what special events you want to attend and need to sign up for.
