Ron Toles

tolesRon Toles moved to Swift Current in 1969 with his wife Carole.  They raised 2 children in the community, and now have 4 grandchildren.  In 2014, they celebrated 45 years of marriage.  Ron graduated from the University of Saskatchewan (1970) with a Bachelor of Education (History/Psychology), and the University of Regina (1992) with a Post-Graduate Diploma (Educational Psychology).  Ron taught school in Swift Current for nearly 40 years.  He taught at Fairview, Beatty, OM Irwin, SCCHS, Maverick, and CAMPS.  He has also taught for the Great Plains College and the University of Regina.  Ron was elected to City Council in October 2012, and he has since retired from all of his other jobs. 

Ron is very active in the community, and he has served on many boards and committees throughout the years.  Ron is a member of the First United Church, Elwood Golf Club, Swift Current Little Theatre, Swift Current Curling Club, and the Swift Current Duplicate Bridge Club.  He has played an active role in Students Against Drinking and Driving (SADD), Canadian Youth Against Impaired Driving (CYAID), the Driving Without Impairment Program (DWI), as well as several committees with the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation (STF). He has had the opportunity to learn at the Conferences of Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities (SUMA), the Canadian Federation of Municipalities (FCM), and has completed four of six Municipal Development Leadership Program Modules in the past two years.  Ron is pleased, proud, and humbled to serve as an elected Councillor for the City of Swift Current.
