Welcome to the Swift Current Fire Department website.   It is our intention to have a website that is useful to the public and others, providing information on our department but more importantly on how you can protect yourself and your family.

Our department provides a wide range of services to the community as listed below.   Our department is also responsible for emergency preparedness for potential disaster situations.  Please surf our website to obtain information on these services and activities.

Fire Careers

We are currently not recruiting for full time firefighters, but we encourage you to submit your resume to Human Resources if you possess the following minimum requirements:

  • Grade 12 or GED equivalency
  • NFPA 1001 - Fire Fighter Level II - IFSAC or ProBoard Certified
  • NFPA 472 - Hazardous Materials - Awareness and Operations - IFSAC or ProBoard Certified
  • NFPA 1002 - Apparatus Driver Operator - IFSAC or ProBoard Certified
  • NFPA 1041 - Fire Service Instructor Level I - IFSAC or ProBoard Certified
  • Incident Command 100
  • Cardio Pulmunary Rescusitation "C" Certificate
  • Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certificate
  • Current CPAT Test or DND Firefighter Physical Fitness Test (completed within last 6 months)
  • Visual acuity greater than 20/30 uncorrected, normal color vision & normal hearing ability
  • Valid Class 3A Drivers License or higher (provide a Drivers Abstract)
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written & orally in the English language
