The Human Resources Department within the Corporate Services Division leads and assists managers and employees with staffing, classification, benefits, employee relations and training and development. It advises on all matters relating to the interpretation and application of our collective agreements. It also manages the payroll and benefits services in conjunction with the corporate compensation program.

It has an obligation for the delivery of Occupational Health and Safety awareness, supports workplace safety training and manages the Worker's Compensation program and hosts the EMO Coordinator that supports the Office of the CAO when required.

It leads in the cooperative development and delivery of Human Resource policies and programs in keeping with legislation and supports Executive Management with organizational goals and objectives.

The City of Swift Current employs approximately 300 employees. This is comprised of Management and Union employees. The union employees are represented by three union locals, namely: Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 183, International Brotherhood of Electrical Works (IBEW) Local 2067, and International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 1318.
