About the Name
The Museum’s gift shop is named after Fraser Tims, Swift Current’s first merchant. Fraser and his brother, William, arrived at Swift Current in December 1882 when the Canadian Pacific Railway reached the creek and the town site was chosen. He erected a wooden storefront and left his brother to watch the business over the winter. In the spring of 1883, the Fraser Tims began a steady business supplying the needs of the CPR workers and arranging shipments of goods arriving from the east to destinations in the north via the Battleford Trail.
