SUMMARY:
This position reports to the Director of Recreation and Parks. This is an administrative and supervisory position, responsible for the maintenance of the Chinook Parkway, City Parks and open space, and boulevard and park trees, public school yard maintenance as well as the operation and maintenance of the Cemeteries.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage and supervise the operation and maintenance of Parks, Chinook Parkway, Mount Pleasant Burial Park, Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Hillcrest Cemetery, Boulevard Tree Management & Maintenance, Athletic Fields; Ball Parks; Tennis Courts, Mowing of City Property, Weed Control on City Property, Mosquito Control, Indoor Plants (City Hall), Maintenance Management of Recreation and Parks Equipment, and Outdoor Rinks.

Participate on the Chinook Parkway Board.

Maintain a tree inventory for the City.

Manage and monitor mosquito and weed control programs for the City.

Interview, select, train and evaluate permanent, non-permanent and student employees.

Supervise and schedule staff.

Approve timecards, sick sheets, leave and holiday requests.

Prepare work schedules and provide effective training.

Evaluate staff performance, discipline staff, as required, and submit confidential reports concerning employee problems and grievances.

Establish and maintain good public relations concerning the Department.

Responds to inquiries and/or resolves complaints from the general public, staff, consultants, community groups, etc., with regard to Parks operations and maintenance.
