The City of Swift Current's Finance Department is responsible for financial management, information and reporting for City Council, Administration and the community. Service areas include assessment and taxation, utility billing and collection, accounts receivable and payable, cash receipts, payroll, insurance, treasury, and budgeting.
Tim Marcus, the Director of Finance, as well as a team of professional staff oversee the day to day operations for the finance department.
Objectives of the Finance Department include:
- To promote the financial well being of all city operations
- To levy and collect taxes
- To establish the fair value of all properties within the city
- To manage the land development function for the city
- To provide operating and capital budget services
- To administrate the city's electrical, water and sanitary sewer utilities
- To facilitate effective procurement of goods and services
- To issue payments to vendors, contractors and employees
- To provide centralized accounting services
- To offer wise financial management of the city's financial reserves
- To administer risk management and insurance services
