The Landfill is located on Highway #1 East, just past the Ponderosa Trailer Court on the grid road.

Acceptance of any waste originating from outside the City of Swift Current will be at the discretion of the Director of Engineering

ENTRANCE FEE

Pick-up Trucks, Utility Trailers, Cars with Residential Waste Only

CLEAN FILL - Accepted from Anywhere

The following will be accepted as clean fill at the Swift Current Landfill.

material from excavations

any kind of dirt with a small amount of organics (roots, branches, etc.)

concrete in a load of dirt where

the maximum size of the concrete pieces is one foot in any dimension

the load must be 50% or more dirt (i.e. the concrete is 50% or less)

asphalt, either separate or mixed with dirt

sod and dirt mixed

CONCRETE DUMP PROCEDURES

The City has decided to establish a concrete dump within the confines of the landfill. The purpose of the concrete dump is to stockpile the concrete for future crushing and recycling.

The conditions of operation of the concrete dump are as follows:

concrete will be accepted for projects from within the city limits from private contractors.

concrete from demolition projects located outside of the City of Swift Current will only be accepted at the discretion of the Director of Engineering. The rates for concrete from outside of Swift Current will be the same as regular waste.

private contractors will be charged $20.00 per load up to an including a tandem

private contractors will be charged $40.00 per load for semi�s

the concrete must be clean. No more than 10% dirt will be accepted.

the concrete must be separated into "Concrete with Metal" and "Clean Concrete". There will be separate stockpiles for each type.

ASBESTOS DISPOSAL POLICY

PURPOSE:

The purpose of the Asbestos Disposal Policy is to allow the disposal of asbestos at the sanitary landfill and to provide a method for setting fees.

POLICY:

The City will allow the disposal of asbestos at it�s sanitary landfill for a fee. The fee shall be set by Council as per Section 10 of Bylaw No. 5, the Solid Waste Bylaw.

PROCEDURE:

1. All asbestos being delivered to the landfill will be either wrapped in plastic or in plastic bags as per Provincial regulation for asbestos disposal.

2. Asbestos will be disposed of in a separate cell.

3. The location of the special asbestos cell will be mapped and a permanent record kept of the cell location.

4. All asbestos will be covered immediately after delivery. Care will be taken so as not to cause any penetration of the encasing plastic.

5. No other waste can be buried with the asbestos.
