The Streets and Transportation Division is responsible for the sweeping of all city streets.

The sweeping of city streets will start in early spring, after the snow has melted away from the curbs and the street is clear of any melting snow and water.

The main focus in early spring will be to clean the main arterial roads. These roads will be swept on a regular basis throughout the spring, summer and fall.

The cleaning of residential streets and paved lanes will take place throughout the summer as needed, but particularly during a three week period in early May.

When the City Sweeping Crew is in your area, we ask that all vehicles/equipment are moved off the street to allow the crew to do a proper job.

Residential areas are swept between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

The Annual Residential Street Sweeping Program Scheduled to begin MONDAY, MAY 13, 2013 (Weather Permitting)

The Spring Street Sweeping Program in the residential areas of the City shall commence on Monday, May 13 (depending on the weather).  The residential neighbourhoods have been separated into 15 areas and the intent is to sweep one of these areas daily. 

Areas of the City are mapped out as noted on the attached Residential Street Sweeping Map. 

Residents are asked to move their vehicles off the street to allow for a thorough sweeping.  Sweeping of residential areas will be carried out between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
