SWIFT CURRENT, SK - The new Inclusive Park located on Central Avenue South and Gladstone Street will officially be known as the Plewis Automotive Group Inclusive Park.
The City of Swift Current’s Community Services Division is excited to announce a freshly inked sponsorship agreement with Plewis Automotive Group Inc., for naming rights to the Inclusive Park for a fifteen (15) year term. In exchange for receiving naming rights, Plewis Automotive Group Inc. will pay the City a one-time payment in the amount of one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000).
Last summer, community members were invited to a public consultation regarding the inclusive play park and playground design. During the consultation process, several changes were requested by community members for further consideration. The naming rights agreement with Plewis Automotive Group Inc. will assist with additional costs of these enhancements and ensures that the community needs for the park design can be realized.
“At Plewis Automotive Group, we believe our community is ‘Better Together’. That belief drives our passion to give back and provide sponsorship funding toward projects that align with our values and benefits the entire community. Knowing this Park will allow ALL children to play is a great feeling and something we are honoured to help make a reality” explains Ryan Plewis, Partner. “We are thrilled to support this important project and the idea that play is for everyone.”
The end goal of Swift Current’s Plewis Automotive Group Inclusive Park is to provide a local space that supports the cognitive, emotional, physical, and social development of all community members.
Phase 1 features a playground structure with multiple entrance and egress points for individuals with mobility challenges. It will include a We-Go-Swing to allow individuals to swing without having to transfer out of their wheelchair as well as a Sway Fun Wheelchair glider and We Go Round. This phase also includes accessible washrooms with an adult change table. Construction is already underway, with the washrooms, playground, and playground surface installation expected to be completed by the end of June 2023.
Phases 2 & 3 offer areas of shelter and shade, space for family picnics, accessible pathways, and a parking lot.

Further information about the project can be found on the City’s website, or by contacting the Community Services Division at 306.778.2787 or communityservices@swiftcurrent.ca.
