For Immediate Release
December 17, 2021

SWIFT CURRENT, SK – Community Services is excited to announce that starting Monday, December 20, 2021, Swift Current’s five outdoor rinks and buildings will officially open for regular operation.

The large ice surface at each location will open December 20, with the smaller surfaces following soon after, as preparations continue.

The Crokicurl Rink at Riverdene Park will also be returning for the 2021/2022 season. Although this rink will see a later opening date than the outdoor rinks, residents can expect it to be fully operational before the new year. Similar to the 2021 season, the Crokicurl Rink will be available during regular Outdoor Rink Hours and can be booked online at

Saskatchewan COVID-19 Guidelines and Protocols will be in place at the outdoor rinks at all times. Current safety guidelines for the outdoor rinks this season include:

  • Masks are mandatory while inside the rink buildings and washrooms.
  • Adhere to proper handwashing techniques, avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth and cough/sneeze into sleeve. Hand sanitizer will be provided in the rink building.
  • Please do not attend to the outdoor rinks if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, or have been exposed to someone under investigation or confirmed of having COVID-19.

Skating at the outdoor rinks is free of charge to all users during regular scheduled times and is a great opportunity for families to be active together this winter. Private bookings are available outside of regular hours at a cost of $45.50/hour.

The outdoor rinks will operate on the holiday schedule from December 20th until January 2nd. Dependent on the weather, the rinks should continue to operate until approximately the end of February.

Rink schedules are available online at and on the City’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
